Join Indian Air Force Group X and Y Notification 2019. Indian airforce has published the notification for Group X and Y for which online exam will be conducted on 13 Sep 2018 to 16 Sep 2018. IAF Group X and Y ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Age Limit: 

  • Candidate born between 14 July 1998 and 26 June 2002 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply.
  • In case, a candidate clears all the stages of the Selection Procedure, then the upper age limit as on date of enrolment is 21 years.

Educational Qualification

  • Group „X‟ (Except Education Instructor Trade).
    • Passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
      OR
    • Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering in any stream, as mentioned in the drop down menu of apply online section under candidate‟s login on the CASB web portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in. The candidate should have completed the course from a Government recognized Polytechnic institute with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in diploma (or in Intermediate/Marticulation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course).
  • Group „Y‟ {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades. Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
  • Group „Y‟ Medical Assistant Trade Only. Passed 10+2/Intermediate/ equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

Note: 

  • Candidate eligible for Group X examination (on the basis of intermediate/10+2) are also eligible for Group Y and would be given an option of appearing in both group X and Group Y exam in one sitting while filling up the online registration form.
  • Diploma holders are eligible to appear for Group X trades only.
  • Education Boards listed in Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) website as members, as on date of registration will only be considered.
  • Exact aggregate Percentage of marks before decimal as written in the marks sheet of 10+2/ Intermediate/Equivalent Examination/Three years Diploma Course OR calculated as per the rules of concerned Education Board/Polytechnic Institute shall only be considered (For example 49.99% should be taken as 49% and not to be rounded off to 50%).

IAF Group X and Y Mandatory Medical Standards

General Medical Standards for both Group ‘X’ (Except Education Instructor Trade) and Group ‘Y’ {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades are as follows: –

  • Height: Minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cms.
  • Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm.
  • Weight : Proportionate to height and age. However, minimum weight of 55 Kg required for Operations Assistant (ATS) Trade only.
  • Corneal Surgery (PRK/LASIK) is not acceptable.
  • Hearing: Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately.
  • Dental: Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points.
  • Health: Candidate should be of normal anatomy without loss of any appendages. He should be free from any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical disability or infection and skin ailments. Candidate shall be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.

  • Permanent body tattoos are not permitted, however, tattoos only on inner face of the fore arms (inside of elbow to the wrist), back (dorsal) part of the hand/reverse side of palm and Tribals with tattoos which are as per custom and traditions of their tribes may be considered. However, right to decide on acceptability/ unacceptability of the individual shall rest with the Selection Centre. Candidates with permanent body tattoos shall submit two photographs (close up and distant view) with details of size and type of the Tattoo, during the second phase of Selection Test.
  • Only Sikh candidates, whose religion prohibits cutting of the hair or shaving of face of its member, will be permitted to grow hair and/or retain beard and moustache. Accordingly, those Sikh candidates willing to retain the same as per laid down specification are to get their photographs with beard and moustache.

IAF Group X and Y Pay & Allowances

During training, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month will be paid. On completion of training the starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Military Service Pay (MSP), Group ‘X’ Pay {applicable for Group ‘X’ Trades only} and Dearness Allowance (DA) will be as follows:-

  • Group „X‟ Trades (Except Education Instructor Trade). Rs.33,100/- per month plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
  • Group „Y‟ {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades. Rs. 26,900/- per month plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
  • In addition to the above, various allowances such as Transport Allowance, Composite Personal Maintenance Allowance (CPMA), Leave Ration Allowance (LRA), High Altitude Allowance, Field Area/Modified Field Area Allowance, HRA, Children Education Allowance/ Hostel Subsidy etc., are also admissible from time to time as applicable.
  • Perks such as Ration, Clothing, Medical facilities, Accommodation, CSD (Canteen) facilities, Leave (60 days Annual and 30 days Casual in a Calendar year as a privilege, subject to service exigencies), Recreational facilities, Transport facility for school going children and Leave Travel Concession (LTC) are also provided as per the existing rules. IAF Group X and Y SEQUENCE OF EXAMINATION

  • Phase – I: Online Test {For both Group ‘X’ Trades (except Education Instructor Trade)} & Group ‘Y’ {except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF(P), IAF(S) and Musician Trades}.
  • Phase – II: Soon after the declaration of the result of Phase-I test, all candidates shortlisted for Phase II will be sent a new admit card on their registered e-mail ID for phase – II test at an Airmen Selection Centre.

The test is conducted for the candidate who have been selected through the NDA,CDSE and UPSE entry type.

4).Medical Test:- 

The medical test is considered to be a very important and latter phase of the selection stages where the cadets are examined interms of their medical standards which is must for the cadets if the individual desires to be selected in the final merit list.

The medical test is conducted to test the medical criteria such as the medical as well as the mental health of the cadets,eye sight,hearing ability etc.If any cadets is found to be suffering from any sort of long-term illness will be rejected during the medical test. 5).Final Merit List:- 

Candidates who have been selected through the selection phase that is conducted as mentioned above then will be called for the final screening or the final selection and the final shortlisting of the cadets are done based on the merit list.

Indian Air Force IAF Recruitment 2018 – Group X & Group Y Details

The AFCAT asl known as the Air Force Common Admission Test is conducted under the supervision of the AIF which holds the recruitment of new cadets according to the vacancies that are available for the various post or the trades under its wings.

The cadets who have been found to be eligible to appear the AFCAT entrance exams are required to clear the integral phase of the selection test which is the written exam conducted by the IAF for the various post. The written exam is conducted as one common exam for all the trades of the IAF.

CPSS (Computerized Pilot Selection System) /PABT:- This test is conducted only for the cadets who have applied for the flying branch of the AIF. Therefore to ensure the selection the individuals must clear the test.

Medical Test:- The candidates who are selected through all the test are finally required to pass the medical test which is conducted by the medical authorities on the basis of the medical criteria prescribed for the recruitment’s of new cadets. Any cadet who is declared to be unfit will not be selected for the training phase of the recruitment.

Aspirants from Maharashtra who are looking forward to joining the Indian Air force as an airman in Group Y non-technical security branch (Special Forces) can apply for the Indian Air Force Recruitment rally in Maharastra 2018. Indian Air Force offers opportunities for UNMARRIED MALE INDIAN/NEPALESE CITIZENS from designated Districts of State of Maharashtra to join as Airmen. The Recruitment Test for Group Y (Non-Technical) Indian Air Force (Security) IAF(S) Trade will be held at Sainik School, Sadar Bazar, Satara, Maharashtra as per the Selection Programme given below.

The Recruitment Test shall be conducted from 6 AM onwards as per the details given below.   • Indian Air Force Airmen Date of Birth Block. Candidates born between 13 January 1998 and 02 January 2002 (both days inclusive) are eligible to appear in the Recruitment Rally.
  • Indian Air Force Airmen Educational Qualification. Candidate should have passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
  • Note – 1: Education Boards listed in Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) website as members, as on date of registration shall only be permitted.
  • Note – 2: Exact aggregate % of marks before decimal as written in the marks sheet of 10+2/Intermediate/Equivalent OR calculated as per the rules of concerned Education Board shall only be considered (For example 49.99% should be taken as 49% and not to be rounded off to 50%).

Indian Air Force Garud Commando Domicile Requirement:

To be eligible to appear in the rally at Sainik School, Sadar Bazar, Satara, Maharashtra, the candidates shall be required to
satisfy the following conditions:

  • The School / College / Institute from where candidates have passed the qualifying examination should be within the geographical/administrative limits of specified districts (as mentioned in paragraph 2 above) of State of Maharashtra. If the name of District is not mentioned with the name of Institution in the certificate / marks sheet of qualifying examination, the candidates shall produce „Domicile Certificate‟ issued by Revenue department, Tehsildar/SDM/DM or any official authorized by the State Government of Maharashtra.
  • Permanent Domicile of districts (as mentioned in paragraph 2 above) of State of Maharashtra who have passed the qualifying examination from anywhere in India shall produce the Domicile Certificate prior to commencement of examination from appropriate authority as given in sub-paragraph 5(a) above.
  • Sons of serving Air Force personnel {Officer/Airmen/NCs(E) and Unit cadre Civilians paid from Defence Estimates} whose father/mother is presently serving in any Air Force Unit/any other Organisation located in the designated districts of State of Maharashtra irrespective of their domicile status, shall be permitted to appear in the rally subject to production of latest SOAFP (Son of Air Force Personnel) Certificate (format available on AFNET CASB website).
  • Sons of Air Force personnel {Officers/Airmen/NCs(E) and Unit Cadre Civilians paid from Defence Estimates} whose father/mother is Retired/ Discharged/ Deceased and they are residing in the designated districts of State of Maharashtra shall be permitted to appear in the rally subject to production of proof of minimum stay of one year along with original and photocopy of Service Book/Discharge Book/Casualty Service Certificate/Service Particular Certificate (issued from DPO-3/DAV, as applicable) in case of Officers/Airmen/NCs(E) and a Certificate duly signed by OIC Civil Admin and countersigned by CO/C Adm O of the last served unit, in case of Civilians.

General Medical Standards shall be as follows: –

  • Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm
  • Weight: Proportionate to height and age.
  • Corneal Surgery (PRK/LASIK) not acceptable.
  • Hearing: Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately.
  • Dental: Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points. (vi) Health: Candidate should be of normal anatomy without loss of any appendages. He should be free from any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical disability or infection and skin ailments. Candidate must be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.
  • Height, Leg Length, Visual Standards and Colour Vision are as follows:

Permanent body tattoos shall not be permitted. However, tattoos only on inner face of the forearms (inside of elbow to the wrist), back (dorsal) part of the hand/reverse side of palm and for Tribals tattoos which are as per custom and traditions of their tribes may be considered. However, right to decide on acceptability/unacceptability of the individual shall rest with the Selection Centre. Candidates with permanent body tattoos shall submit two photographs (close up and distant view) with details of size and type of the Tattoo.

Only Sikh candidates, whose religion prohibits the cutting of the hair or shaving of the face of its member, shall be permitted to grow hair and/or retain beard and mustache. Accordingly, those Sikh candidates willing to retain the same as per laid down specification are to get their photographs with beard and mustache.

Pay & Allowances:

During training, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month will be paid. On completion of training the starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Military Service Pay (MSP) will be Rs. 26,900/- per month plus Dearness allowance (as applicable) which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.

Special Force (SF) Allowance

{IAF(S)} @ Rs. 17,300/- per month on completion of training will be applicable to Indian Air Force (Security) Trade.

Perks:

Perks such as Ration, Clothing, Medical facilities, Accommodation, CSD (Canteen) facilities, Leave (60 days Annual and 30 days Casual in a Calendar year as a privilege, subject to service exigencies), Recreational facilities, Transport for school going children and Leave Travel Concession (LTC) are also provided as per the existing rules. Group Insurance Cover of Rs. 37.5 Lakhs at a premium of Rs. 2300/- per month for all airmen and facility of Group Housing Scheme are also extended.

Verification of Eligibility:

Original Educational Certificates (10th Passing Certificate and 12th Passing Certificate & Marks Sheets) and other required applicable original documents like NCC ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate, Son of serving Air Force Personnel (SOAFP) certificate (or) Discharge Book, Service Book, Service Particular Certificate/Casualty Service Certificate (or) Discharge Certificate (if discharged from Army/Navy/ Government Organisation), Consent Form (signed by parents if candidate below 18 years of age) and passport size colour photographs shall be required and scrutinized/verified at the examination venue prior to commencement of Physical Fitness Test to ascertain the eligibility prima-facie. Detailed verification will be carried out later in respect of candidates who pass Physical Fitness Test and subsequently the Written Test. Candidature of those who do not meet the laid down educational criteria shall be rejected during Initial verification of original certificates & mark sheets prior to conduct of Physical Fitness Test and also during detailed verification on clearing the Physical Fitness Test as well as Written Test.

  • Note: The original Passing Certificates / Marks Sheets will not be retained by the Selection Centre. The same will be returned to the candidates on completion of detailed verification.

Indian Air Force Airmen Group –  Y (Non-Technical) IAF(S) Trade

  • Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

    • 1.6 Km run – within 5 minutes 40 seconds: The Candidate is to run 1.6 Kms on a marked course, within timings.
    • Chin up – minimum 08: The Candidate is to hang from a bar with under-grip and pull his body upwards till the chin clears the bar. He is to lower the body until the elbows are completely straight and the body is in the ‘dead hanging’ position.
    • Push-up (plank type) – minimum 20 : The candidate is to place his palms flat on the ground directly underneath the shoulders with the elbows straight and locked. The body is to be straight and inclined to the ground with the body weight supported by the hands and the toes. The body is to be maintained straight when being lowered with only the elbows bent. The chest is to remain off the floor in the lowest position.
    • Bent Knee Sit Ups – minimum 20 : The candidate is to lie down flat on his back with fingers interlocked behind the head, with knees bent in a comfortable position. A partner is to stand on the candidate toes to prevent them from lifting. The candidate is to sit up to a vertical position touching the knees with his forehead and return to the starting position.
  • Written Test

    • All candidates who qualify PFT shall undertake Written Test on the same or subsequent day depending on the local conditions. The Written Test will be objective type and question paper shall be bilingual (English & Hindi) except for English paper.
    • Answers are to be annotated on OMR sheet. The detailed procedure shall be explained before conduct of the examination. Duration of the Written Test will be 45 minutes and shall comprise of English as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus and Reasoning and General Awareness (RAGA).
    • CANDIDATES ARE TO QUALIFY IN EACH PAPER SEPARATELY. Results of the Written Test shall be declared on the same day.
    • Adaptability Test-I. All candidates who pass the Written Test shall undertake Adaptability Test-I on the same or subsequent day depending on the local conditions. Adaptability Test – I is to assess the suitability of a candidate for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather and operational conditions.
    • Adaptability Test-II. All candidates who pass Adaptability Test-I will have to undertake Adaptability Test-II as per policy in vogue. Adaptability Test-II is to select candidates who can adapt to the environment of Indian Air Force and are able to adjust to the military way of life.
    • Dynamic Factor Test (DFT). All candidates who pass Adaptability Test-II will have to undertake Dynamic Factor Test to assess the
      required qualities to function as IAF(Security) in Indian Air Force.

Indian Air Force offers opportunities for UNMARRIED MALE INDIAN/NEPALESE CITIZENS from all districts of state of Karnataka to join as Airmen. The Recruitment Test for Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) (Medical Assistant Trade) will be held at Veeravanite Onake Obavva District Sports Stadium, Chitradurga, Karnataka as per the Selection Programme given below.

Examination/Rally venue will be open from 0600h-1000h and the examinations will be conducted as per the details given below. Candidates from State of Karnataka fulfilling the domicile requirements and eligibility conditions reporting up to 10 AM on 18 March 2018 at the Rally Venue will only be permitted to appear in the Recruitment Test.

Indian Air Force Age Limit After 12th & Graduation

However age limit that have been set for the individuals applying for the different branches do not vary except in some cases of entry type and educational qualification of the cadets,the overall age limit for the individuals has been mentioned below:-

Candidates applying for all branches through the NDA entry should be between the age of 16 years 6 months to 19 years.


Graduate candidates :-

  • Flying Branch:- 19 years to 23 years
  • Technical  branch:- 18 years to 28 years
  • Ground Branch:- 20 years to 23 years

Engineering Candidates:-

  • Flying Branch:- 19 years to 23 years
  • Technical Branch:- 18 years to 28 years
  • Ground Branch:- 20 years to 25 years

Post Graduate candidates:-

  • Technical Branch:- 18 years to 28 years
  • Ground Branch:- 20 years to 25 years

After the age limit the next eligibility criteria is the educational qualification that is set particular for each of the IAF branches which the cadets must possess in order to be eligible under the educational criteria as required.

Indian Air Force Educational Qualification After 12th /Graduate/Post Graduate

Since the air force is composed of various units the educational requirements are set according to the unit the individuals desire to apply for their recruitment. Below we have mentioned the overall requirements in terms of the educational eligibility for each of the unit.

1. Flying Branch:- This particular branch of the IAF is the aerial operational branch which offers the post of pilots such as for the Fighter jets pilots,Helicopter pilots,Cargo pilots,which are the essential functioning unit of the armed force that remains equally active during every operational mission and daily routines carried on by the IAF.

So for the individuals to be eligible for this branch the following Air force educational qualification are required:-

NDA Entry:- Candidates who will be applying through the NDA entry require to have passed their respective 10th standard or equivalent exam(12th passed) 60% form science  background with Maths and Physics being the compulsory subjects.

CDSE (Graduate candidates):- Graduate individuals who have passed form any recognized university with Physics,Maths & Chemistry during 10+2 with 60% are eligible to apply for this branch. Candidates with a BE/B Tech(For Year Course) degree are also eligible.

Note:- There is no percentage bar for the candidates who are gradudates.


2. Technical Branch:- The  technical branch of the IAF is the unit that is responsible for the entire technical section  that involve the mechanical,electronics equipment that are the integral parts of some of the most sophisticated machinery that have been provided to the IAF.

Therefore the individuals will require to have proper knowledge in the field of mechanics and electronics and other essential machines. The branch offers various section or department under the  ACE or Aeronautical Engineering Course for the candidates who are eligible according to the requirements for each of the department as prescribed.

The candidates will need to qualify under the qualification that has been set mentioned as follows. This is the Indian Air Force Technical Branch Qualification criteria.


NDA Entry:- Aspirants applying through the NDA entry require to have passed their respective 10th standard or with 10+2 educational qualification(12th passed) 60% form science  background with Maths and Physics being the compulsory subjects from any recognized educational board.

UES University Entry Scheme(Graduate Individuals):- The candidates must be presently studying in the final year/semester of BE/B.Tech Degree with the the minimum of 60% in overall category.

Aeronautical Engineering Course(Electronic):- Four year degree from a recognized university/Should possess the Graduate membership exam of the Institutes of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers/Passed the examination(Section A & B) of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineering/Passed the exam of Aeronautical Society of India(Section A & B).
The candidates must have studied at-least eight(8) subjects.

Aeronautical Engineering Course(Mechanical):- Four year degree from any recognized University/Passed the examination(Section A & B) of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineering/Passed the exam of Aeronautical Society of India(Section A & B).

The candidates must have studied 8 subjects which are the mandatory subjects during their educational period.

3. Ground Branch:- The ground branch of the IAF is also known as the GDBC( Ground Duty Officers Course) is the ground based unit that operates the entire administrative section of the IAF. However there are other various section of the ground branch which is offered to the candidates depending upon the eligibility of the candidates as per the requirement set for each of the unit of the ground branch:-

NDA Entry:- Aspirants applying through the NDA entry require to have passed their respective 10th standard or with 10+2 educational qualification(12th passed) 60% form science  background with Maths and Physics being the compulsory subjects from any recognized educational board.

1).Administrative Section:- The administrative section involves the Air Traffic Control,Fighter Controller.

The candidates should be a graduate in any discipline with 60% in aggregate terms.
50% marks in aggregate terms for Post Graduate candidates or with equivalent diploma in any discipline.

2).Accounts Section:- This section deals with the entire financial management of the entire air force unit.

Graduate individuals:- The educational qualification should be Graduate Degree in Commerce (B.Com) with the minimum of 60% in aggregate terms in all paper.
Post Graduate individuals:- The candidates will require to a Post Graduate in Commerce(M.Com) or CA or ICWA with the minimum requirement of 50% in aggregate terms in overall paper.

3).Logistic Branch:-This section is responsible for the management of the various materials and the resources that are required by the IAF,such as the supervision over inventories,different range of equipment.
Graduate Candidates:- Should have attained graduation from any discipline with the 60% as the minimum marks required in overall papers and in aggregate.

Post Graduate Candidates:- Should possess the post graduation degree in any discipline or equivalent degree with minimum of 50% in aggregate and in all the papers.

4).Educational Section:- This section of the ground branch is only offered to the candidates who are post graduates with the following requirements.
Post Graduation Degree in any discipline with the minimum requirement of 50% in all the paper and in aggregate.

5).Meteorology section:- This section of the ground branch is entrusted with duties to operate the various equipment regarding the satellite imaginary and monitoring equipment an such.

The candidates must be a post graduate individual with the degree in any Science Stream/Maths/Statistics/Geography/Computer Application/Environmental Science/Applied Physics/Oceanography/Agriculture Meteorology/Ecology & Environment/Geo-Physics/Environmental Biology with the minimum of 50% in aggregate an in all the papers and should have studied Maths and Physics during graduation and should have scored minimum of 55% in each of the subjects.

The educational qualification that are required for each of the unit have been mentioned above according to the unit or the branch and the different and divers section under each of the branch of the IAF.

 

Indian Air Force Physical Requirement & Medical Criteria 2018-2019

Physical Criteria:- The physical standards of the candidates are must which are examined depending upon the physical requirements that have been set for the requirements as per the eligibility.
The candidates must have the required physical criteria in terms of height ,weight and chest,however these criteria are set according to the age of the individuals. Check Indian Air Force Physical Test Requirements and get details of minimum height For air force male candidates.

Medical Requirements:- The candidates must have a proper medical standards which si necessary for them to fulfill their routine and daily duty to maintain the smooth functioning of the armed force.

The medical standards of the individuals are examined by the specialists of the Military Medical Corps under the various medical requirements such as medical health,Mental status,Eye sight,Hearing ability,Dental or Oral health,ENT.

Any sort of medical setback such as bone deformity,long-term illness,presence of wax in ear will be responsible for the rejection of the individuals. So the age limit and the educational qualification varies among the branches that offers the individuals with the opportunity to be a part of the IAF but only if the cadets are not able to qualify under the various required eligibility that following after the age limit criteria such as the education ,physical ,medical criteria as mentioned above.

And only those candidates who are declared as eligible under the entire required eligibility criteria  will be allowed to undergo the selection process held for the recruitment of new batch of cadets.
